(AP) � The PBS Kids Sprout network has fired the host of The Good Night Show after learning she had appeared in videos called Technical Virgin.
The host, Melanie Martinez, had alerted network officials about one of the videos late last week and she was immediately taken off the air.
“PBS Kids Sprout has determined that the dialogue in this video is inappropriate for her role as a preschool program host and may undermine her character’s credibility with our audience,” said Sandy Wax, network president.

I was about to send this to you when I saw it on the PBS site and did a little googling. Then I saw you had already gotten it.
Yes, it’s funny. Emily and I got a great scream out of both videos. Will wondered what we were laughing about. I still smile when I think about both.
However.
This was 7 years ago. And this is PBS, the supposedly “non-corporate” network. I am really disgusted by them firing her. It’s typical corporate knee-jerk s***. Don’t get me wrong, Emily and I both have commented to each other about how annoying Melanie is. Emily asked one night if she was on something. BUT she was obviously very good at what she did, because Will noticed that she was gone. Other parents have answered the same questions from their kids.
I just don’t think she should be fired for something like that. There was no more “danger” to our kids from her previous “work” than GEORGE CARLIN narrating “Thomas the tank engine.”
How many of those corporate suits are perfectly innocent? How many of us are? Your Majesty, could you get a job in mainstream broadcasting if you had to explain some of the posts (or pictures) on this blog?
I really think that it’s sad that people aren’t outraged about this. If we all just sit around and laugh about this and not ask for her return, then we open ourselves to the same thing in the future. Are our blogs worth our jobs?
I’ve sent an email to the PBS ombudsman. I encourage you all to as well. (http://www.pbs.org/ombudsman/) Her videos were funny. Her voice is grating. Her eyes are strangely alert. Her firing was wrong.

It’s bad, tho’, because my kids are RIVETED by her. Arianna still watches the “Goodnight Show” (when I let her), but I discovered that Jack could care less about the cartoons….but, when Melanie is on, he gets completely silent and just stares at the tv. Transfixed.
Then, when they cut to the cartoons, he gets pissed and crawls over the tv and slaps it.
This will be bad.
