The decision to use that word is consistent with everything discussed above.

I think this video hits the demographic perfectly. Although it’s a stereotype, it resonates well with this age group. The video needs to be see as something that they relate with, and it does it exactly that. As a college student, I know that my peers will chuckle and enjoy this portrayal of the sometimes wild college lifestyle. A few people commented saying this wasn’t their college experience, and for some it wasn’t, but from my perspective (currently in college) I know that nearly everyone has experienced the awkward morning after.

Given that this video may not apply to some of the users of Me.dium, it is still a creative attempting that shows a great comedic understanding of the targeted demo.

The idea here was to feature a script given to us by our demographic. I say this not to rid Me.dium of responsibility for its implications but, instead, to push the idea that the video does in fact resonate with the college crowd.

No, this video is not implying every college student behaves this way.. in fact the hope is that they don’t but that they can have a laugh at the stereotype.

You make a valid point about our positioning the video on our homepage and its important to us that we receive this feedback. We thought we’d show the class some real love by getting it up there. They spent a great deal of time studying our messaging to college students and we are extremely thankful for it.

I thank Brian for writing on behalf of the demographic but its certainly important to note the reaction your blog received regarding the homepage placement. I honestly appreciate your feedback and your reader’s comments – we’re listening.
