We took down the ribbon.

My daughter takes down the yellow ribbon, her uncle is home!

We retired the flag.

  14. Awesome! Welcome home. I remember when my brother came back from Iraq–it was such a feeling of relief, and you just hope all the other people with loved ones over there get to feel the same someday soon.

  15. One of "The Others" says:

I couldn’t let this go. I just couldn’t. I am so happy that Cody is back from Iraq with his family in Germany. I loved the pictures. I think it is a shame that you would use him to further your political agenda when you have described that family this way (to further your secular agenda):

“And the only thing I could associate it with was my crazy ass in laws. My sister-in-law was very excited once when my brother-in-law got to pick up Jerry Falwell from the airport to speak at their seminary.”

Yes, I am one of “The Others” that you have described in some of your posts. I do want my children to have Christian values and respect their elders. I pray that my children do not use their family members to further their own purposes. Just my two cents.

  16. Queen of Spain says:

One of the Others: I’m sharing my life. For better or for worse. My life is personal, it’s political, it’s even messy.

I have huge differences with my inlaws, but we love eachother just the same…and that means I am happy he’s safe and anxious to share the news with everyone.

If everyone hid anything that was political, because it was also personal, or if I stopped speaking openly about my family, we’d never discuss this war and all it’s implications. That goes for my family and yours.

My brother in law happened to arrive home at a time I was leaving. I would have written about how emotional his being safe was for my family, regardless of me going to the DNC.

Perhaps you should read your bible more think about what you assume of me. What you assume of my blog. And what you assume my motivation is in REJOICING that my husband’s brother is ALIVE and with his family, whom I love.

I will continue to talk about my family, my life, my politics because it’s ALL personal. It’s affected MY HOME.

If you don’t like it, don’t read.

  17. Queen of Spain says:

…and PS…they think I am their crazy ass family just like I think they are my crazy ass family. But we love eachother. Have you people learned nothing from Senator Obama on differences and how we can all get along even with them? there I go…talking politics again…see how it’s personal?

  18. Queen, I am glad your BIL is home. You all can breathe now. I cannot believe someone would accuse you of political posturing when you are just being real and sharing your life.
(and forgive me for making your blog a debate forum, but I cannot let that comment go.)

And for One of the “the others”: Just for the record: I am a Bible-believing Christian. I am in church every week. I am active in service. I believe in the Jesus who stands for social justice and was a friend to all. I don’t use my faith to exclude others, or to make it ok for me to be prosperous. I weep for American Christianity. It isn’t what He had in mind, at all. Republicans do not have a lock on Christian values. Obama IS a Christian. He shows it, he doesn’t just talk about it. I have had enough of 8 years of talk.

    I am voting for Obama.
