I read you occasionally (first found you through Christina [A Mommy Story]), but this is my first time commenting. I'm a novice blogger, but I think this is the coolest, most generous bloggy giveaway I've ever read. You are such a beautiful person for doing this -- may we all follow your example as best we can in 2009! My son was born in late 2007, so 2008 wasn't all bad for me. I wouldn't trade the memories of his first year for anything. But the rest of it was pretty rough. My husband had to quit his graduate program in Boston so we could get support fom my family (they are the sole reason my son has clothes), we moved back here to Ohio, he was unable to find a job so he went back to school for a teaching certificate, I finally found a job in September, and since then, we've been pretty stressed, him with schoolwork, me with a job in daycare ($8 an hour to support a family of 3 plus the small amount back from the student loans). We can't afford all our bills every month, so we rotate the ones we pay. We're really looking forward to the end of his certificate in May or June (depending on where he's student teaching), so that maybe he can get a job offer. Should that happen, we'll be okay within a matter of a few months. But it may be difficult to send me to BlogHer. I want to carpool and share a hotel room with Christina, and I'm trying to figure out a way to get the student discount, but it might not happen this year. And Chicago is probably the closest it will be for awhile (that won't be a big deal should my husband get a job for the 09-10 school year, but if he doesn't, it will affect next summer too). Sorry for the super-long comment. I tried to rewrite it so it wasn't so wordy, but I guess I'm just extra verbose tonight. :) Good luck to everybody! Hello!
