School Clothes

To school...like this?

So let’s just say THIS is how your preschooler wants to attend class today. Where do you draw the line?

Comments

  1. I love this. And I thought arguing about school outfits didn’t begin until junior high – silly me!

  2. The horse is a little much.

  3. Well, seeing that her daddy has deprived her of a puppy, I say let her dress to the nines…or the tens. 🙂

  4. Oh, that’s a toughie! I’m all about letting my kids express themselves, but I think when it comes to school I’d have to insist on wearing everyday clothes and saving the play clothes for after school. My 4 year old dresses much like that about half the time when we’re home…I actually let her go out wearing a princess dress up dress when we ran errands the other day. I guess I have a double standard, I need to rethink things. Hmmm…

  5. She’s much too cute to say she can’t go like that…lol

  6. Too cute. Seriously.

  7. Tell her there’s no horse parking setup at school and that her dress might get caught in the chair and rip. Crown and beads are just great accessorizing, I would wear those too if I could pull it off.

  8. Let her go. It’s preschool and she’s adorable!!

  9. Can you really say no to such cuteness?

  10. i draw the line at the tiara, but that is a line i have drawn in the whole methodology of parenting because our country does not have real princesses the way they are portrayed in the media is not as a position of power but as an objectified woman to be won. Do not want my daughter growing up with a princess complex, so i draw that line, everything else is perfectly lovely!

  11. I don’t see anything that is weather inappropriate. Rock on!

  12. I think I would only try to discourage the horse. Maybe you could trade for a bicycle? The other day my son wore his police riot helmet, in fact he is wearing it right now.

  13. Hmmm. My preschool discourages kids bringing their own toys to school. Do play clothes count as toys or are they just clothes? I think I would suggest that the play stuff stay at home so other kids don’t get upset that they don’t have any but if she was insistent I’d let it go and see what the teachers at school say. After all she looks cute!

  14. I’d insist that the horse stay home. Also, the dinosaur if she doesn’t have a cubby. Having taken a preschooler dressed as a pirate to the public library once, I have to say that I’m pretty permissive about the costumes. 🙂

  15. I draw it at the knee.
    Her outfit is fine!

    Enjoy!

  16. That’s how my preschooler wants to attend class EVERY day. And I do draw the line. One ridiculous accessory is allowed, and only one. And you have to be able to play outdoors while wearing it. Because otherwise all the ‘special’ things get lost, stained, ripped, and so on. And then? There are Many Tears. I do not enjoy the Many Tears.

  17. as long as we are weather appropriate, i don’t care what my kids wear.

  18. ah yes, we have this (on going fight) issue too with a house full of 4 tiny princesses. The horse is a nice touch. mine need a horse. does she have the plastic ‘glass slippers’ on? those are always awesome – especially in the winter.

  19. For preschool? I draw the line at naked, but that’s pretty much it.

Peer pressure and school rules will mitigate all fashion choices soon enough. When they’re young and cute enough for few people to care, let the fun and freaky fly!
