Pierre, Johnny, Mickey and his penis

“I don’t know, there is some naked boy and he gets baked in a cake and flies a dough plane and swims in milk and goes to bed…”

“I totally remember that.”

“And Carole King sings…”

“Mommy, can I watch the penis boy who gets eaten by a lion?”

“ummm…sure honey.”

Some of you have no clue what I’m talking about. Some of you are having flashbacks. Right. Now.

I’ll be over at BlogHer today.

Oh yes. Those were some good stories!!!

I don’t care Pierre was my favorite, I keep threatening Brad, Jr. I’m going to buy it for him.

ps what happened to the March Knight? Can it be me?

  2. Queen of Spain

FIgures Amber would be the one to know what I was talking about.

I think the diet winner will end up with the next knighting.

Or it can just be Amber. We’ll see.

Get ready for some serious Mocha Information:

I totally had the flashback, but mostly to my “Really Rosy” album that I sang to (all the words are still embedded in my brain) with Carole King. Maurice Sendak is the king, but his drawings can be disturbing. What’s really bad is that ‘penis’ and ‘dough’ have this permanent connection in my brain. Permanent.

I’ll sing you a few bars sometime.

When I was little, my friend Claudia and I used to sneak off and read this book so we could see the naked kid. Total flashback! Later, when we were teens, we sneaked off to look at the naked Asian people on the swing in the Joy of Sex Book. Flashback anyone?

  5. Library Lady

I am ROTFL because the only flashbacks I am having is to the last 20 years of my life, during which time I have read the Sendak books many times at programs. And the last 11 when I have read them at home with my girls. And if I had a dollar for every time I have SUNG a Carole King “Really Rosie” song, or listened to one in the car with the kids, I would be independantly wealthy and could just do the work I love for the fun of it!!!

Oh, and (shameless blog plug, but not as shameless as the spam two comments up) if anyone wants to know what this is all about, go to my blog, and click on the sidebar at the spot where it mentions “Classic Picture Books”.
