Last night my son pointed to me, smiled and said:
Mom I want to marry a girl just like you when I grow up.
My heart skipped a beat and I smiled back.
In my head I was thinking, oh, no you don’t. No. No. No you don’t.
You don’t want someone like your Mom kiddo. Trust me on this.
Kids can do such good for the self-esteem…. Unfortunately they can rip you down just as quick. Just be glad that, although you may disagree with his statement, that he’s giving you compliments. 🙂
Okay I read this, thru blurry eyes (i’m sick), went to read another blog, and another….then came back to comment because one thing kept ringing in my ears:
‘why the hell not?’
you’re smart, pretty, informed, opinionated, kind, fun and a good person all round.
so? why the hell not?
I agree with Karen Sugarpants absolutely. Besides, he’d probably bored to death with any other kind of woman I’m sure.
When my daughter tells me she’s going to marry Daddy? I’m good with that… it’s when she tells me she wants to be “just like me when she grows up” that I tell her “you’ll be ever so much better honey.”
I’d tell you quit being so hard on yourself, but yeah, I know.
((hug))
It might have freaked you out, but he paid you the highest compliment.
And I wouldn’t worry too much. You’re one of a kind!
