Thursday night I was watching Nightline, and they showed a clip of the session. The meeting chairman (or whatever his title is) asked the auto industry execs to raise their hands if they planned on returning to Michigan and immediately selling their private jets. Not one single exec raised his hand. The chairman said, “Let the record show that not one person in this room has raised his hand.”
I’m just curious as to what your thoughts are on this?
I think it sucks that so many Americans working in the auto industry have lost their jobs, but I’m skeptical. Don’t these CEOs have some responsibility for this? They’re making millions and the blue collar and white collar workers are screwed over! I think that’s shitty.
“Oh I think they are idiots”???? Didn´t they make the cars that people wanted and therefore bought? It´s so much easier to judge afterwards. CEO bashing has become really popular. But we might still need these guys, so why not treat them with respect?
john dingell, mentioned in this clip, is my rep! i vote for him!
ahem.
anyway, yes.
here i am in southeastern michigan, and: YES.
please, world: don’t sell us up the creek. that’s what i keep thinking to myself.
the economy here (i know it’s bad everywhere) has already shifted so dramatically, even before the economic crap hit the fan last month. i’ve never worried about money before, because to be honest, i’ve never really had any. but i’m scared shitless right now.
pardon my language, but there’s just no better term.

Oh I think they are idiots. Which is why I back a bailout structure with conditions.
Wow! That’s all I can say, WOW! My loss for words, by the way, is monumental, almost never happens.
