Good, Evil, and North Carolina

Even the seven-year old knows where to stand on gay marriage. Note Bo’s hair color:

Why yes, this is how we color in this house #obama2012

Profoundly sad that North Carolina voters felt the need to discriminate against those not like them. But know this…we will continue to fight. We will achieve equality for all Americans. Even my children know what is right and good and they will carry the torch for me and others long after we’re gone. This is far from over.

  1. Hear! Hear! My children were quiet and sad when I told them the news this morning. They are simply dumbfounded that this could happen.

  2. We worked hard and still had only 16% voter turnout for what was, essentially, a Republican primary. The fight goes on – to the courts, to the future, to Minnesota. As my third grader said: Who cares who people love?

  3. I live in NC, and it really came down to cities vs. rural areas. Our city voted against this amendment, and I think all of the cities did. The rural areas are what got it passed. Raleigh/Durham, Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Asheboro, I believe all voted against this amendment. I thought people were more engaged because of this issue. I’m surprised to hear the turnout was so low. That’s really disappointing!

So it’s the savvy city sophisticates (like you) against all those cousin-marrying, Bible thumping rural rabble, huh? That comes darn close to stereotyping, Tessy babe. I thought you educated, city girls (with your fog, your amphetamines and your pearls) were above stereotyping….

  5. AMEN. I really really hope so. It frightens me that it somehow could not be. That somehow ignorance could win.

  6. @daleandersen Actually, the correlation has been documented. http://www.truthwinsout.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/nc1.jpg

  7. I don’t know whether it’s just me or if perhaps everyone else experiencing problems with
your blog. It appears as though some of the text within your
content are running off the screen. Can someone else
please provide feedback and let me know if this is happening to
them as well? This could be a issue with my web browser
because I’ve had this happen previously. Appreciate it
