BFF

Sick at home and on the couch

I got a text message from my husband this weekend that read, “in the front yard. kids are hugging each other.”

My kids are best friends. Not just ‘she’s my sister’ or ‘he’s my brother’ best friends, but…truly the best of friends.

They play with each other, willingly, all day and rarely do they argue. Sure they are getting on each other more than they used to…but all day long I hear things like ‘Come here! Come quick! Bowser is going to get Princess Peach and you have to be Mario and save her!’ and then a ‘I’m coming! I love this game!’

In fact in that photo above…they are on the couch, sick, and voluntarily snuggling as they play a game. VOLUNTARILY.

Sigh. I’m so freaking lucky.

Comments

  1. That’s adorable. I don’t think I ever went within 10 feet of my sister growing up.

    You are lucky!

  2. Awww that’s sweet. My sis and I were besties growing up. Most of the time.

  3. You’re right. I do hate you now. Fucker. My kids consider “hugging” choke holds and attempting triangles a la the UFC. Might as well put an octagon in our living room while your house is just bursting with rainbows and sunshine and friendship and hugs. What? The? Fuck?

(Also, do you train kids? Like, can I send my three crazy ass boys to your house for a week – I’ll pay, of course – and you can morph them into lovable creatures instead of wild little monsters? Just curious. For a friend.)

  4. That’s two crazy luck kids you have there.

  5. UD you might have a DNA issue there … nature, nurture, lol

Yes, I am damn lucky. How did that happen? Because I really don’t deserve them

  6. I don’t know what to say other than that’s awesome! I don’t know that my nieces and nephews get along so well… And just so you know, we don’t “hate” you…we’re happy for you 🙂

  7. Enjoy.

  8. They are the bomb! And you have instilled the value of family on them in more ways than you know. It’s all good, hang in there. Glad you see the simple things in life. Isn’t that what Mom’s do? From a Mom of the 4 legged kind. Luv U!

  9. How sweet. I am an only child so I never had that experience. You are lucky.

  10. So sweet. I wish my brother and I were like this when we were younger. They are adorable, and you the fact they get along so well is a testament to what a fabulous mother you are!!!!! (In case you didn’t know it already)

  11. My brother and sister are my two best friends. Like, willingly and stuff.

  12. I am so hoping that MiniMe & the new guppy are like that. She does sing really sweetly to my belly & ask all kinds of questions about what’s going on in there. Too bad your so far away because I think yours do seem to set an excellent example.

  13. Not only do they snuggle with each other -they call to each other for help! U are way lucky! What’s your secret?

My two boys play together sometimes, but they always make room for their little sister.

  14. Yes you are and so are they – I think it’s lovely.

  15. My kids fight over the bong residue I leave behind. It’s quite discouraging.

  16. Wow, my brother and I loved each other, but didn’t always LIKE each other, growing up. Now we’re close, thank goodness. I love that your kids are buddies! Sweet pic, too. Enjoy!

  17. You are VERY lucky. The only other male/female siblings I’ve seen like that are my brother’s kids. Boy is older, girl is two years younger and my God, those two love each other. It’s amazing to watch. Especially considering my two boys (22 & 21) freaking hated each other until they were about 16 & 17. My God. The fights. Lord, I don’t know how I made it through that.

  18. In 20 years, they’ll be crashing on each other’s couches when they travel to go see U2 5 times in 10 days. 🙂 Brothers are the best.
