To All His Future Girlfriends, You Are Welcome

Last week I had surgery on my lady parts, and in honor of said surgery I purchased myself a little momento… a stuffed uterus.

She’s feisty. She has a devil tail. She was a reminder for me to be strong and that no matter what happened, I was going to be fine.

As it turns out, not only am I fine, but my seven-year old son has taken quite a liking to my new pink friend.

Yes, I like this stuffed uterus
He slept with it last night. He came home from school today and demanded to see it and play with it.

Yes, my boy loves my stuffed uterus.
Because of our new friend “Uterie” my son now knows all about the female reproductive parts, their names, and what they do. He’s enthralled.

You are welcome, future girlfriends. You are welcome.

And here I thought I was performing a service by teaching my son how dishes get washed, laundry gets done, bathrooms get cleaned, and floors get scrubbed (and, also, making him do those things).

You’ve got me beat. Amazing. His future girlfriends will worship you.

Oh lordy, I am so tempted to go buy you the stuffed sperm now. At least you could torture Aaron with both of them. You might get that puppy after all!

The uterus totally lead to a sperm discussion. And *I* explained how sperm came out of a penis because Aaron wussed out like girl. Or should I say, boy

I totally just tried to look up that etsy shop I saw that sells personalized labia drawings/necklaces. Custom crafted based on photos you submit. So sorry I couldn’t find it. Just think what a great birthday gift that would have made for him.

My 7yo still thinks we got him out of the Vesey’s seed catalogue because my husband and I are so magnificently repressed. Perhaps one of you ladies might write him a quick haiku or Seussian explanation of how it all works. I would be forever grateful.

way to go mom. love it. son is now fearless. knows mommy safe. the letting him snuggle with it etc etc all so much about him feeling secure. there’s more to this story….like what nudged you to get it….the conversation you were having with yourself about how to keep your children safe that was calming your own fears…let’s hear that one too. 🙂

Well whattaya know… she does have a name! And a good one, at that! I’m fairly certain “Uterie” is the plural form of Uterus but, really, when does a person ever have more than one, so how can we know for sure?!?

Those kids are too cute. Seriously, they must make all the other kids feel inadequate about their cuteness 😉

And good for you for the open, honest discussions you’re having with your kids. Making it not a big deal now means it won’t be a big deal later. Or ever. Good job, momma! 🙂
